Well, according to a study in the September 2009 American Journal of Health Promotion, moderate drinkers are more likely to exercise that non-drinkers. So previous studies suggesting that alcohol prevents heart attacks may have reached the wrong conclusion. It is possible that the benefit comes from the exercise, not from the alcoholic beverages. As a side note, anyone who knows me well knows that i am a fan of wine. I rationalize my intake by touting the health benefits of it. One of the biggest benefits of red wine is the ingredient resveratrol which is showing great promise in decreasing age related changes at the genetic level and even fighting cancer cells. Unfortunately, you would need to drink approximately 16 bottles a day to get the therapeutic benefits. Don’t try this at home. There is a concentrated supplement available with all the therapeutic benefits learn more here.
